Our Veterinarians
Dr. Dana Power
 |
Dana grew up in Coldbrook and attended Central Kings Rural High School before continuing at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in her pursuit of a degree in Veterinary Medicine. She obtained that degree in 1988 from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. She returned to her home province and began practicing in small animal medicine in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Driven by the desire to serve all clientele as though their pets were her own, she returned to her hometown to open the Annapolis Animal Hospital Ltd with two other partners who shared the same vision in 1991. Two partners soon became one and she endeavoured to develop the small animal practice over the next 22 months with her large animal partner, Mike McGowan, as he developed the large animal practice. It’s been 17 years now, and they continue to strive to offer the very best care possible to their patients and clients. Small animal medicine shows daily challenges and life never seems dull with the constant changing needs of the ailing animals they treat. She continues to enjoy busy practice live and balances this with family life as well. She presently lives in Canning with her husband, Mike McGowan, and their daughter Annie. She is an active member of the local Rotary Club. Some of her interests include fitness, cooking, biking and spending time with her daughter.
